Information about DNA Prenatal Testing by easyDNA Australia

Prenatal DNA Paternity Testing

DNA Paternity Testing can also be performed prior to the birth of child. This is normally referred to as Prenatal DNA Paternity Testing (or Pregnancy DNA Test).

At easyDNA we DO NOT currently offer this test - however we are able to provide you with a conclusive DNA paternity test once the baby is born through our standard home DNA paternity test which can be done as early as the first day the child is born.

We have also provided below some more information about a prenatal dna paternity test as a useful guide prior to deciding whether to proceed with this type of DNA test.

Prenatal DNA testing is normally performed from samples taken during the first and second trimester of the pregnancy. The test can be performed through two collection procedures : Amniocentesis or Chorionic Villus (CVS).   The samples MUST be collected from a specialist OB/GYN.

In an amniocentesis procedure, the objective is to collect amniotic fluid from around the fetus. It is generally indicated that Amniocentesis can be performed between 12 and 21 weeks. In the CVS procedure, the specialist will collect the chorionic villi from the placenta. The CVS procedure can be used for early detection 10-12 weeks into pregnancy.

We strongly recommend that you consult with your specialist OB/GYN prior to deciding whether you want to proceed with a Prenatal DNA Test.
